Police report death of resident of Rostov Region at detention
A resident of the Aparinsky Farm in the Ust-Donetsk District has died at detention by policemen who used force against him. A check is underway.
"Policemen used physical force against the offender, but he continued resisting. When policemen tried to use special means, the man began foaming at the mouth and he stopped showing signs of life," the "Interfax" has reported, citing the press service of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for the Rostov Region.
The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on June 14, 2023, Anatoly Berezikov, an activist, died at the Rostov special detention centre, where he was serving his third consecutive arrest after a pacifist action. Meanwhile, when Irina Gak, an advocate, visited him a few days before, she said that he looked healthy. Earlier, she fixed a stun gun (electric shocker) traces on Berezikov. "He complained that law enforcers had taken him out of town and tortured with a stun gun," Ms Gak said. Berezikov's acquaintances did not believe in the suicide version.
On June 22, 2023, law enforcers conducted searches of the homes of Irina Gak and Tatyana Sporysheva, an activist, who also represented Berezikov's interests. A few days later it became known that Gak and Sporysheva had left for Georgia.
