Alexander Bastrykin, the Chairman of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), has ordered to open a criminal case after an attack in Rostov-on-Don on a veteran of the special military operation (SMO) and his wife, as a result of which they received traumas. The incident has caused a stir online.

The veteran was diagnosed with head bruises, and his wife had a broken leg. She noted that her husband was awarded a medal for the capture of Bakhmut, the RIA "Novosti" has informed.

According to one version, the incident occurred as a result of a conflict.

Most social network commentators have condemned the attackers.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 9, 2024, three participants in a mass brawl in Nevinnomyssk had apologized to the SMO participant, whom they beat up in a bar, and "to the entire city." The attackers have been arrested, and a hooliganism case is being investigated.
