Prosecutor’s office files a cassation against verdict to Diana Tsipinova

In its complaint, the prosecutor’s office insists that the acquittal of Diana Tsipinova, an advocate from Kabardino-Balkaria, should be cancelled and the case should be returned to court. Diana Tsipinova and her advocate argue that the public prosecution did not provide any evidence of violations committed by the courts during the consideration of the case.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on July 7, 2023, the Urvan District Court did not find any corpus delicti in the actions of Diana Tsipinova, the advocate from Kabardino-Balkaria, accused of attacking a law enforcer, and acquitted her. On November 29, 2023, the Supreme Court (SC) of Kabardino-Balkaria upheld the acquittal.

Diana Tsipinova tried to get to a police department to provide legal assistance to her colleague Ratmir Zhilokov. She was accused of using violence against a policeman. A public prosecutor requested the court to sentence Diana Tsipinova to 2.5 years of imprisonment. Colleagues of Diana Tsipinova point out that cases of persecution of lawyers for their professional activities have become more frequent during the recent ten years.

The “Advokatskaya Gazeta” reports that Deputy General Prosecutor of Russia Igor Tkachyov treats as unfounded the conclusion of the court, which recognized that while forcing Diana Tsipinova out of the police department, policeman Timur Nagoev illegally detained her, caused her bodily harm, and publicly humiliated and insulted her with elements of sexual harassment. The Deputy General Prosecutor added that the examinations had been carried out with violations.
