Akhtubinsk resident fined for statements in memoirs

The court has fined Yuri Novak, a resident of Akhtubinsk, treating his statements in the memoirs he had passed on to his acquaintances as inciting hatred and enmity.

The Akhtubinsky District Court has fined Yuri Novak by 10,000 roubles under the administrative article of inciting hatred. The case came to court in May, but then the court returned the protocol to the police, indicating that it specified the article about discrediting the Russian Army, the human rights project "OVD-Info"* has reported.

Yuri was prosecuted "because he handed his own memoirs over to his friends recorded on a flash drive," "that contained statements aimed at inciting hatred and enmity."

Novak has admitted guilt and repented, explaining that he did not fully understand the consequences after publicly sharing his memoirs with his friends.
