Patrushev: 21 terror act accomplished in Russia during the first half of this year

Nikolai Patrushev, head of the FSB (Federal Secutiry Bureau) of the Russian Federation, has reported that the number of terror acts accomplished in the territory of Russia goes down year after year. Thus, in 2005, 257 terror acts were registered in Russia, in 2006 - 112 terror acts. As to the current year, according to Patrushev, during the first 6 months of 2007 21 terror acts were registered.

These figures gave grounds to the FSB director to assert that the work of the National Antiterrorist Committee in prevention and suppression of terror acts had yielded particular results, the ITAR-TASS has reported today.

"We are concerned with the growth tendency in the count of terror acts in the territory of the South Federal District (SFD)," the IA "Vzglyad" is quoting Mr Patrushev. He has noted that the situation in the SFD is paid special attention to, and the Committee has elaborated a range of measures aimed to ensure safety in the region.

The "Caucasian Knot" reports that these days director of the FSB of Russia Nikolai Patrushev is attending the sixth international meeting of top managers of special agencies and security services in Khabarovsk.
