The Rostov Regional Court has upheld the verdict against doctors of the prison hospital in a case on abuse of power with the use of violence, the “Kommersant” reports.

Daria Pozdnyakova, the head of the psychiatric department of the hospital, was sentenced to six years, and psychiatrist Anastasia Potorochina to – five years of imprisonment. On March 20, the convicts requested the court to cancel their sentences, insisting that they were not guilty.

By December 2020, twenty-one convicts complained about unacceptable conditions in the hospital. A year later, a criminal case was instituted for abuse of power in connection with the torture and deaths of prisoners in the hospital, and 62 victims testified against the doctors and Alexander Lyakh.

Soslan Dzidakhanov disagrees with the amount of compensation for his suffered moral harm that the Ardonsky Court awarded him for being beaten up by a law enforcer.
