People in Moscow commemorated September 11 terror act victims

On September 11, it is 6 years from the date of the largest and most violent act of terror in human history. A memorial service was held in Moscow on the victims of world terrorism. The service took place in the territory of the representative office of the American Orthodox Church at the Moscow Patriarchy - in the temple of Sacred Martyr Catherine in the district of Vspolye.

Archimandrite Zakhiy, representative of the American Orthodox Church, has told: "For the first time we conducted a memory service on September 11 victims in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania. But now we see that six years later the count of victims has increased and includes those who perished in London, Charm-Ale-Sheikh, Moscow, Beslan, Pakistan and many other places."

The "Caucasian Knot" has already reported that at night of September 9, people in Moscow also commemorated the victims of the 1999 terror act in the Guryanova Street, which took away the lives of more than 100 persons. About 200 persons took part in the ceremony.

For reference: In total, the acts of terrorism accomplished in Russian cities in September 1999 took away over three hundreds human lives and caused a shock among the population of the country. During the terror act in Dubrovka in October 2002, when 923 spectators and actors of the "Nord-Ost" musical were taken hostages by terrorists, at least 130 persons were lost, and over 700 persons were injured.

As a result of the act of terror in Beslan in September 2004, 186 children and 148 adults were killed, besides, 728 Beslan residents and 55 fighters of power agencies were wounded. During the storm of the school building, 12 members of special services and one local resident who helped to liberate the hostages were killed.
