The police conducted searches and seized a PC and other office equipment from home of an activist from the Rostov Region who took part in the campaign to register Boris Nadezhdin as a candidate for the presidential election. The law enforcers attempted to conduct searches at the places of residence of two other local activists.
According to the source’s information, the law enforcers stated that the young man and his former colleagues were involved as witnesses in a criminal case on incitement of hatred or enmity. The police threatened to break down the door if they were not opened. A PC and other office equipment were seized from the activist’s home, and he was set free after a conversation with the law enforcers, the “OVD-Info”* reports.
The police attempted to conduct searches at the places of residence of two other local activists, and after they found the activists were not at home, the law enforcers questioned activists’ neighbours.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the Central Election Commission (CEC) refused to register Boris Nadezhdin as a candidate for the presidential election. The CEC stated that it had identified a critically large number of invalid signatures submitted in support of Boris Nadezhdin.
In Krasnodar and Volgograd, supporters of Boris Nadezhdin faced counteraction from the law enforcement bodies. A signature collector in Krasnodar spent several hours in police custody, while in Volgograd a cafe director called the police when several activists came to his establishment for lunch.
