Resident of Dagestani village of Tlokh tortured, his advocate claims

Magomed Shamsudinov, a resident of the Dagestani village of Tlokh, was detained on suspicion of using force against his acquaintance, and the victim initially testified that Magomed Shamsudinov was not guilty, advocate Aidemir Ismailov reported. According to his version, law enforcers used torture to force Magomed Shamsudinov to confess to the crime, as evidenced by the results of his medical examination.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on August 14, residents of the village of Tlokh in the Botlikh District posted on the Internet a video message to Sergey Melikov, the leader of Dagestan. In their message, the villagers reported that law enforcers tortured their fellow countryman Magomed Shamsudinov in order to obtain a confession from him in a criminal case.

Magomed Shamsudinov has been kept at a SIZO (pre-trial prison) for four months. The police detained him after Gadjiyav, a resident of the village of Tondo in the Botlikh District, was taken to the hospital with bodily injuries. Neither the victim nor anyone else pointed to Magomed Shamsudinov as the person who committed the crime. However, the police found in a Magomed Shamsudinov’s mobile phone his correspondence with Gadjiyav and his wife.

“According to the Magomed’s version, there was nothing criminal among them ... But on night from April 14 to 15, law enforcers began to beat Magomed, strangle him, and shock him with a stun gun. They decided to create an artificial love triangle,” the advocate stated.

“The confession was beaten out. Law enforcers forced Magomed to confess that the victim’s wife allegedly asked him to punish her husband for beating her ... Magomed was forced to confess to the crime under torture. And in the situation of Gadjiyav and his wife, the law enforcers took advantage of the fact that the victim and his wife do not speak Russian well and can hardly speak it at all,” the advocate noted.

According to his version, the victim first testified that Magomed Shamsudinov was not guilty, but later pointed to him as a criminal.

The advocate claims that the torture against Magomed Shamsudinov is confirmed by several documents and a forensic examination.

Relatives and fellow villagers of Magomed Shamsudinov recorded a video message to Sergey Melikov, the leader of Dagestan, asking him to stop the violation of the Magomed Shamsudinov’s rights. However, the authorities never responded to the above demand.

The fellow villagers describe Magomed Shamsudinov as a law-abiding citizen and a decent person.
