Woman from Cherkessk fined for prohibited symbols

The Cherkessk city court has fined Madina Karaketova, a local resident, for her avatar placed in a messenger, which was treated as demonstration of prohibited symbols.

The reason for drawing up an administrative protocol against her was in her avatar placed in the WhatsApp*, which depicts the US flag with a slogan used by Ukrainian militaries as a greeting, and the postscript "and the USA", the "OVD-Info"** project has informed.

The court's website says that Karaketova has repented and admitted her guilt in full. The above court has fined her by 1000 roubles.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 26, a court in Krasnodar fined Ilya Kharchenko, a local resident, by 61,000 roubles on two protocols on discrediting the Russian Army and a protocol on displaying prohibited symbols.

*On March 21, 2022, the Tverskoi Court of Moscow banned the activities in Russia of the Meta Company, owning the Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, in connection with extremist activities.
