21 US Congressmen refused to support the resolution on genocide of Armenians

21 American congressmen have refused to support Resolution 106 on genocide of Armenians. Only during the latest 2 days 12 US legislators recalled their signatures under the document.

This news was reported by the IA "Regnum" with reference to Arpi Vardanyan, regional director of the Armenian Assembly of America (AAA) in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.

Ms Vardanyan has expressed her confidence that, whatever unpleasant it can be, the Resolution should be adopted. "I'm sure that the USA, as the leader in many spheres, should not submit to Turkey's blackmail," she has noted. "Turkey has made a dangerous step having sanctioned invasion into Northern Iraq and having declared that its relations with the States are under threat. However, if Ankara moves in the same direction, the Turkish government will be made responsible for the consequences," Ms Vardanyan has noted.

In her opinion, the USA should just confirm the history, as indeed, the US Ambassador to Turkey during the World War I, while speaking about the actions of the Turkish government, had declared: "It was a campaign that has destroyed the whole nation." "People should recognize the facts and live on," Arpi Vardanyan has noted and added that the arguments that the Resolution was untimely are groundless.
