Zarema Musaeva receives second reprimand in colony
The bosses of the colony located in the city of Argun have issued the second reprimand to Zarema Musaeva for not wearing a badge; this may affect the court position on her conditional early relief (CER or parole), the advocate has informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 27, 2024, the Shali District Court for the second time rejected the petition for Musaeva's CER, since she had failed to compensate for the damage within the fraud case and got registered in the colony. On September 27, Alexander Savin, her advocate, reported that Musaeva's blood sugar had approached a critically high level; the drug therapy she was treated to in the colony was of no help; and the court postponed the consideration of the appeal against the refusal to release Musaeva on CER for a month. The FSIN (Russian Federal Penitentiary Service) is not interested in treating prisoners, human rights defenders have emphasized.
The advocate has added that colony doctors managed to stabilize Musaeva's condition, the "Team against Torture" (TaT)* reports.
According to the advocate, Zarema received another reprimand for not wearing a name badge. She failed to put it on when she went to wash herself in the morning. This is already the second reprimand for not wearing the badge. The advocate believes that the reprimand was unlawful. "According to the design rules of correctional institutions, the bathroom must be located inside the dormitory," Alexander Savin has explained.
Let us remind you that at a hearing at the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya this February, where the district court's refusal to release Musaeva under CER was challenged, a colony official said that Musaeva had committed a disciplinary violation – she was not wearing her badge.
*The "Team against Torture" (TaT, formerly the "Committee against Torture" – CaT) was created by the lawyers who had earlier worked for the CaT, which was included into the register of the NCOs performing the functions of foreign agents.
