Chechen authorities report blood feudists' reconciliation

In the village of Oiskhara in the Gudermes District, a reconciliation ceremony was held of two families who had been in conflict over a murder that occurred a year ago.

In 2010, a commission on national reconciliation was set up in Chechnya. On October 17, 2011, the head of the republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, announced that the commission had been abolished as unnecessary, but the next day a new commission was created under the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Chechnya, which deals, among other things, with reconciliation of blood feudists.

A year ago, as a result of a domestic quarrel, Shamil Bichiev was killed by Muskhab Reshiev, his friend and fellow villager. Members of the Bichiev teip (family clan) and his relatives have officially asked for forgiveness from the suffered party, the "Grozny" State TV Channel reported on the Instagram*.

Let us recall that despite the fight against the blood feud custom, declared by Chechen authorities, on October 10, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, speaking about the conflict around the Wildberries Company, mentioned Suleiman Kerimov, Senator from Dagestan, and Bekkhan Barakhoev and Rizvan Kurbanov, State Duma MPs, calling on them to prove their non-involvement in the order to kill Kadyrov, and warned them of his readiness to declare blood feud against them.

*On March 21, 2022, the Tverskoi Court of Moscow banned the activities in Russia of the Meta Company, owning the Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, in connection with extremist activities.
