Activist Nabiev: law enforcers likely to pressure Rabadanov’s supporters in Dagestan
As soon as he returns to Makhachkala, Dagestani activist Isalmagomed Nabiev plans to visit the FSB Department, where he was summoned because of signing an appeal in defence of detained Ramazan Rabadanov. The activist suggests that the summoning is a method of pressure.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in November 23, public figures, including Isalmagomed Nabiev, signed an appeal to the heads of the law enforcement bodies of Dagestan with a request to ensure an unbiased investigation and release Ramazan Rabadanov from custody. On December 15, Isalmagomed Nabiev received a summons to the FSB‘s Department for Dagestan.
On November 6, in Makhachkala, the police detained activist Ramazan Rabadanov, who spoke in defence of the people accused in a case on riots at the airport in Makhachkala. Ramazan Rabadanov claimed that a grenade was planted to a pocket of his jacket.
Human rights defender Isalmagomed Nabiev has not yet visited the FSB Department, where he was summoned for a conversation. He did not rule out that the summons could mean an attempt to pressure him for signing the appeal in support of Ramazan Rabadanov.
“I was not closely acquainted with Ramazan Rabadanov, and I do not agree with him on everything. But I had to express my opinion because of the lawlessness with respect to him,” the activist noted.
Shamil Khadullaev, the chair of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) of Dagestan, said that, according to his information, the FSB also summoned other persons who signed the letter in defence of Ramazan Rabadanov.
