Musaeva’s new case becomes formal reason to leave her in penal colony
Zarema Musaeva suffers from pain in her legs, but she does not receive medical treatment in a hospital. Human rights defenders believe that the new case on disorganization of the activities of the penal colony is not related to the motion for conditional early relief (CER) for Zarema Musaeva. The article that Zarema Musaeva has been charged with is most often used during riots in penal colonies, a lawyer explains.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on December 13, Zarema Musaeva was charged with disorganization of the activities of the penal colony. The woman faces up to five years of imprisonment.
The health state of Zarema Musaeva is still not good, reports an activist from the “Team Against Torture”*.
“There are no significant changes in her health state: she still suffers from diabetes and hypertension. Perhaps, now she suffers even more from the pain in her legs, which was treated in the spring of this year,” noted the human rights defender. He has also pointed out that Zarema Musaeva has not been taken to hospital for a long time.
Advocate Akhmed Kostoev is surprised that Zarema Musaeva has been charged with disorganizing the activities of the penal colony. “I have never had such incidents in my practice. The maximum punishment concerns cases in court, when a defendant can be subjected to punished disciplinary action for disrespect for the court. The same thing happens in penal colonies ... And here she is involved in a criminal case under an article that is usually opened for a riot in a penal colony. It is clear that this is only a formal pretext, like the first charge against Zarema Musaeva,” the advocate noted.
Let us remind you that, according to the investigators’ version, Zarema Musaeva attacked a penal colony warder who accompanied her to the hospital for medical treatment.
*The “Team against Torture” (TaT, formerly the “Committee against Torture” – CaT) was created by the lawyers who had earlier worked for the CaT, which was included into the register of the NCOs performing the functions of foreign agents.
