Kadyrov's mother falls under sanctions from Australia and New Zealand
On the third anniversary of the Russia's special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine, the foreign ministries of Australia and New Zealand have updated the sanctions list including Aimani Kadyrova, the mother of Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of Chechnya.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 24, 2023, the US Treasury imposed sanctions against Aimani Kadyrova. Then, Ramzan Kadyrov stated that he would not forgive the US for imposing sanctions on his mother, while treating the sanctions as "painless." On June 24, 2024, the European Union (EU) included Aimani Kadyrova and the Kadyrov Fund into the sanctions list.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of New Zealand has cited Aimani Kadyrova's involvement in the removal of children from Ukraine as the reason for her inclusion into the sanctions list.
She was also sanctioned by Australia along with 70 other people.
The Kadyrov Fund was created in 2004; it is presided by Aimani Kadyrova, Akhmat Kadyrov's widow, while their son, Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of Chechnya, is the chairman of the board of trustees. Construction of pompous skyscrapers, fabulous fees for stars and mixed martial arts (MMA) tournaments are mentioned along with social and economic projects when talking about the activities of the Kadyrov Fund.
