Missing athlete Anna Tsomartova put on international wanted list

A student named Anna Tsomartova, who went missing in Kaspiysk, has been placed on the international wanted list after an examination found that she looked similar to a young woman spotted in Dubai.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the search for Anna Tsomartova, a native of North Ossetia, has been ongoing since February 12, 2024. Investigators have initiated a criminal case on murder, but the version of kidnapping is also being considered. The investigators have discovered a photo of a young woman looking similar to Anna Tsomartova and taken in the UAE.

22-year-old Anna Tsomartova disappeared in Kaspiysk after she was defeated in a tournament and was in a depressed state. Her parents, Nikolai Tsomartov and Diana Tsomartova, appealed to President Vladimir Putin and faced harassment on social networking services.

Diana Tsomartova says that her daughter has been put on the wanted list through Interpol channels, including the version of kidnapping is being considered, the “161.ru” portal reports.

An investigator also informed Diana Tsomartova that a photo of a young woman looking similar to the missing athlete and taken in Dubai was sent for an independent examination.

“The examination’s results indicate that it is impossible to establish a 100% resemblance because of the girl’s face covered by a medical mask. However, then the experts reported that the photo shows a complete similarity with Anna Tsomartova, including in her figure, facial features, etc.,” Diana Tsomartova emphasized.

“The announcement of an international search is a big victory for the investigator,” Diana Tsomartova noted as quoted by the “161.ru” portal.

After publishing the materials about the investigation into the disappearance of Anna Tsomartova, Sabina Bondar, a journalist from Rostov-on-Don, began receiving insults and threats from visitors of a Dagestani Telegram channel associated with the law enforcement bodies.
