Territorial Election Commission of Stavropol calls mass media not to break law

The Territorial Election Commission of Stavropol has prepared the Appeal to Leaders of Mass Media Organizations.

This action is connected with the elections of the head and vice mayor of Stavropol appointed on September 21, 2003. The Territorial Election Commission requests that all mass media should follow the demands of the Federal Law ?About the Principal Guarantees of Electoral Rights and the Right of the Citizens of the Russian Federation to Participate in a Referendum? and the Law of the Stavropol Region ?About the Order of Elections of Local Authorities of the Stavropol Region? in order to observe citizens' electoral rights during the elections.

Such newspapers as ?Our Cause Is Just!? and ?New Civil World? that have abused the laws mentioned have already been issued on the territory of Stavropol. That will cause the administrative and criminal prosecution of the leaders of these editions.
