Picket in defence of Ingushetia residents' rights held in Moscow

Today, the Novopushkinskiy Mini-Park in Moscow was the venue of a 40 persons-strong picket held against violations of human rights and freedoms in Ingushetia. The participants have expressed their concern with the growth of violence and their protest against prosecution of independent media and oppositional leaders in Ingushetia.

We remind you that six persons arrested after the January rally in Ingushetia are holding a protest hunger strike in the place of their detention - SIZO (pre-trial facility) of the city of Nalchik, the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria. Maksharip Aushev, Magomed Evloev, Ismail Barakhoev, Ramazan Kulov, Ruslan Khazbiev and Salman Gazdiev announced their hunger strike on May 23, after another extension of their custody term.

"Freedom to Nazran rally participants!" was the poster held by Oleg Orlov, chairman of the Human Rights Centre "Memorial". Representatives of the Ingush Diaspora in Moscow, members of the United Civil Front, Movement "For Human Rights", Society "Memorial", Anti-War Club, Committee of Anti-War Actions, and Roza Malsagova, editor-in-chief of the oppositional site "Ingushetia.Ru" were also among the picketers.
