Militants who shelled Mi-8 helicopter are searched in Chechnya

The militants are searched in the Vedeno District of Chechnya who shelled on June 2 a Mi-8 helicopter, which was carrying militaries of a special subdivision of the Interior Troops.

"Yesterday, on June 2, in the morning, two helicopters - Mi-8 and Mi-24 - conducted a special operation in the Vedeno District. Some kilometres off the village of Oktyabrskoe, when a scout group was landing from Mi-8, the helicopter was shelled from automatic fire-arms," a source from the Military Commandant's Office of Chechnya has informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

At the moment of the attack, the helicopter still had 12 fighters inside, one of them, a contracted serviceman, was heavily wounded and later hospitalized. The helicopter was not damaged.

"Later, several Internal Troops units were deployed in the district, and in the afternoon they detected militants and launched a skirmish with them. After a short fight, the bandits withdrew and disappeared in the dense forest. Their searches continues," said the source.
