12 persons killed in Chechnya as a result of the earthquake
The underground quakes which have occurred in waves today across North Caucasus killed 12 persons in Chechnya. These are the data from the republic's Ministry of Health. No casualties are reported from the other regions.
Apart from Chechnya, the quakes were felt in Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, South and North Ossetia and in the Stavropol krai.
The estimated number of wounded as a result of the earthquake is 116 persons. The information on the casualties has been broadcast by the NTV channel.
Akhmed Dzherakhanov, acting chief of the Chechen department of the Ministry of Emergencies, states that most victims are in the Gudermes district of Chechnya, reports "RIA Novosti".More than 60 people have been brought to the Gudermes city hospital.
