Hearing at Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria on October 13, 2005, events postponed again

The preliminary hearing at the Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria on the events on October 13, 2005, scheduled on today, has been postponed again, because defendant Zuber Erzhibov could not appear to the Court.

We remind you that earlier Zuber Erzhibov, who was diagnosed, under unofficial data, tuberculous pleurisy, was hospitalized to the prison hospital.

"On the eve of the hearing, Erzhibov was discharged from hospital and placed into SIZO (pre-trial facility), however, he could not come to the courtroom," an informed source has reported.

The previous court session also failed because of an illness of one of the defendants.

We remind you that the public organization "Committee of Soldiers' Mothers" had initiated to petition before the State Duma of the Russian Federation on using amnesty to the defendants on the events of October 13, 2005. The leader of the organization Lera Mamkhegova went to Moscow specifically for the purpose.

"Our petition will be considered only after the New Year," said Ms Mamkhegova and explained that the petition was signed both by public organizations and defendants' relatives, and by ordinary citizens.
