Georgia: gas prices to go up for companies

Commercial structures in Georgia will pay more for gas. Suppliers and distributors have made a deal.

"Because of the fall of the national currency, gas price will grow up for commercial structures, but they will remain frozen for the population - 0.51 laris for 1 cubic metre," said Eka Sariya, head of the PR section of the "Kavtransgas-Tbilisi" company.

At the Energy Summit in Baku Georgia and Azerbaijan signed a gas supply agreement. After signing the document, which envisages deliveries of gas to Georgia for five years, President Mikhail Saakashvili has stated that there will be no problems with gas supply and no price growth.

However, the gas distributors and suppliers of Georgia after two days of consultations agreed that gas will be more expensive by 10-15 percent for commercial structures, but at the same time, the price surplus will not exceed 0.8 laris.
