Western diplomats visit journalist Einullah Fatullaev in Azerbaijani prison

Today, a group of employees from the Western diplomatic missions in Baku made a visit to Penitentiary Establishment No. 12, located in Gyuzdek village, to meet Einullah Fatullaev, founder and editor-in-chief of the newspapers "Real Azerbaijan" and "Gyundelik Azerbaijan".

The delegation headed by Veronica Kotek, Special Representative of Secretary General of the Council of Europe in Azerbaijan, also included employees of the Embassies of France, Norway, Germany, USA and Baku Office of the OSCE.

Elchin Bekhbudov, Chairman of the Committee against Torture, who accompanied foreign diplomats in their visit to the colony, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the foreign officials had a two-hour talk with Fatullaev and examined the dungeon (punishment cell) of the colony, where the journalist was placed last month. Mr Bekhbudov gave no details of the conversation of the diplomats with the journalist, since the meeting was confidential.

The PR Department of the Penitentiary Service of Azerbaijan has confirmed the fact of the visit to Fatullaev by foreign diplomats, however, refrained from comments.
