Azerbaijani public mark four years after Guseinov's murder

Today in Baku, a group of journalists, political and public figures and members of the diplomatic corps have visited the grave of Elmar Guseinov, editor-in-chief of the "Monitor" magazine, on the occasion of the 4th anniversary of his murder.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that the commemoration ceremony started with laying flowers to the journalist's grave, then, the prayers from the Koran were read.

Sabir Guseinov, father of the deceased journalist, thanked the attendees for their respect of Elmar's memory. "I'm thankful to colleagues, friends and to everybody who respects the memory of Elmar," said Sabir Guseinov.
Isa Gambar, leader of the "Musavat" Party, said: "On the one hand, the day of March 2 has entered the history of Azerbaijan as the day when Azerbaijan joined the United Nations as an independent sovereign state. On the other hand, on this day we lost Elmar."

Leila Yunus, Director of Institute for Peace and Democracy, has reminded that 4 years ago president Ilham Aliev publicly promised that this crime would be solved, however, it never happened.

Mekhman Aliev, Director of the "Turan" News Agency, has noted the growth of the participants of the commemoration action as compared with the previous anniversary. According to his version, it is another indication of the fact that people insists on solution of this crime.
