Pliev: inquiry finds Magomed Evloev's detention illegal

Musa Pliev, advocate for the Evloevs family, has reported that the Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office (ICPO) of Russia initiated a criminal case on the fact of illegal arrest of Magomed Evloev, former owner of the website "Ingushetia.Ru" at the airport of the city of Magas.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Supreme Court of Ingushetia had earlier recognized Evloev's detention to be illegal.

"The ICPO for the Republic of Ingushetia has opened a criminal case under Article 285 ("Abuse of one's official powers") of the Russian Criminal Code on the fact of illegal detention of Magomed Evloev in the airport of Magas on August 31 last year," said Mr Pliev.

The ITAR-TASS reports that the criminal case was initiated by inspector Aslan Tsechoev.

Musa Pliev has noted "that it means that the law enforcement bodies had detained him without due grounds," as the "Interfax" reports.

The ICPO gave no official confirmation of this information yet.
