MIA: militants' involvement in murdering Chechen resident not excluded

The law enforcement bodies of Chechnya are investigating the circumstances of kidnapping and subsequent assassination of a resident of Roshni-Chu village, Urus-Martan District, accomplished last Saturday, March 14. In the opinion of Chechen power agents, most likely, this crime was committed by members of IAFs.

"So far, there're no suspects or detainees in the case. However, there are grounds to assume that the crime was committed by members of IAFs (illegal armed formations). The investigation into the incident continues. A criminal case was initiated on the fact of kidnapping and murder of the resident," a source in Chechnya's MIA said in his conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to the source, militants, as a rule, perceive any armed person as a power agent or militia helper.

"Most likely, this is just the case. A bandit group of five persons in the forest came across three armed men dressed in something looking like military uniform, as our hunters like to do, disarmed them and forced one of them away. And after a while, the body of the kidnapped person with two gunshot wounds was found near the place of the incident," he said.

  • Compensation decrease for illegal prosecution violates rights of KBR resident

The court ruling, which awarded Madin Gubzhokov compensation of 30,000 roubles for unlawful criminal prosecution, is incomparable with the moral harm caused by the actions of Azamat Kyaov, a former law enforcer. The amount is ridiculous and should be appealed against, lawyers and human rights defenders have stated.
