Former defendant in Politkovskaya's murder case arrested again

Today, the Tver Court of Moscow has sanctioned arrest of Sergey Hadzhikurbanov, a former employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Russian Federation, who was earlier acquitted on the murder case Anna Politkovskaya, observer of the "Novaya Gazeta".

Hadzhikurbanov was detained yesterday, on April 2, in Moscow on suspicion of extortion. Yesterday, it was reported that Sergey Hadzhikurbanov was detained for two day under Article 91 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation.

However today, the Tver Court of Moscow has arrested Hadzhikurbanov, having satisfied the petition of the City Investigatory Department under the GUVD of Moscow.

The Court has arrested Hadzhikurbanov under another criminal case - extortion, initiated against Hadzhikurbanov and Buraev, as the "Interfax" writes.

Sergey Hadzhikurbanov is accused of extorting 350,000 US dollars from Dmitri Pavlyuchenkov, the main witness in Politkovskaya's murder case, the ITAR-TASS writes.
