Stalingrad Battle damage counted up in Volgograd Region

The Volgograd Region has published a collection of documents evidencing the damage caused by the actions of fascist troops during the Volga Battle in 1942-1943.

The publication comprises registers and summary sheets accounting the material damage caused to the city of Stalingrad and districts of the region, to rural and settlement municipalities, industrial enterprises, collective and state farms, communal services, objects of public education and public health, culture and sports, and personal property of residents.

The collection also includes reports and certificates of secretaries of district Communist Party Committees on the status of their districts after liberation, interrogation protocols of captured fascist soldiers and their accomplices, testimonies and questionnaires of the residents who came back from concentration camps. It presents documents about the civilians who were forced into hard labour, crimes accomplished by fascists against Soviet prisoners of war and peaceful citizens, certificates about violent actions of aggressors, and plenty of other materials.

The work to prepare the book lasted for about three years. It contains 672 documents, only 69 of them are copies, all the rest are originals. The circulation of the edition is 550 copies, which will be disseminated among libraries and museums. Probably, an Internet-basis version of the edition will soon appear.
