Families of retired militaries fear eviction in Nakhichevan
In the city of Nakhichevan, authorities are forcibly evicting nine families of retired militaries and veterans of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict from their apartments, the residents of the military township, located in central city, are complaining.
"In 1987, we received a warrant for the apartment. Now, the authorities of Nakhichevan have brought the police here and demand to quickly abandon the flat. Instead, they offer an empty remote plot of unsuitable land. I'm over 60 years old; and at this age I have neither energy nor capability to build a house," a veteran Abdullah Orudjov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The first trial of the case of evicted families was held by the Nakhichevan City Court on August 24, 2012. The court decided to evict former militaries from their apartments. They were dissatisfied with the decision of the court, and filed an appeal and cassation complaints.
So far, the decision of the Cassation Court has not been presented either to advocates or to ex-servicemen. Some of them are preparing complaints to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) on violations of their property rights.
