Instances of avian flue registered in Krasnodar Territory

Krasnodar Territory has introduced the quarantine regime because of avian (bird) flue. The measure has been taken after revealing several cases of the disease, with the aim to prevent an outbreak. A representative of the press service of the Administration of the Krasnodar Territory has reported that at the meeting held on the issue, Governor Alexander Tkachov had reminded the heads of power agencies about the last year's situation, when tens of thousands birds died at one of poultry factories, and asked to keep a bright lookout.

"Last year, we almost conquered this disease. Because of that, the sanitary and veterinary services, and in much the population of the Territory, relaxed. Somehow they thought that the danger would never come back to us," the Governor said.

To prevent a spread of H5N1 virus, the poultry farms operate now in the closed regime, while the disease itself has been registered so far only within some household plots" the press service informs.
