Arrest of ex-minister of health supporter in Azerbaijan extended again

The arrest of Rizvan Talybov, chair of the committee to protect the rights of Ali Insanov, former minister of health, has been extended for yet one more month. Telman Novruzzade, his lawyer, has reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that a decision to this effect was passed yesterday by the Sumghait town court.

Note that on April 21, the court ordered Talybov's arrest for 2 months under a charge of hooliganism. R.Talybov is charged with a hooligan attack on an Ilkham Sharifov in public transport. His lawyer, however, thinks that the true purpose of his arrest is linked with his protection of the ex-minister.

For reference, Ali Insanov, Azeri ex-minister of health, was arrested in October last year on the suspicion of preparing a coup d'etat and abusing his power, including embezzlement of state property.
