North Ossetia: Basayev's militants will spend from 18 months to 23 years in prison
The Supreme Court of North Ossetia has sentenced four participants of an armed group, created under the order of Shamil Basaev and Abu-Dzeit in the territory of Ingushetia for committing grave and especially grave crimes, to imprisonment for the terms ranging from 18 months to 23 years.
According to the materials of the investigation, Alaudin Almurziev, born in 1980, a native of Kabardino-Balkaria who lived in the Republic of Ingushetia; Adam Korigov, born in 1978, a native of Ingushetia; Ilez Kostoev, born in 1986, a native of North Ossetia who lived in Ingushetia; and Muhamed-Ali-Arselgov, born in 1976, a native of Ingushetia, took part in attacks on citizens, employees of law enforcement bodies and servicemen, and committed acts of terror in the territory of Ingushetia and North Ossetia.
In the period from May 2005 to May 2006, the defendants were engaged, within an organized group, in illegal circulation of fire-arms, ammunition and explosives. Among the crimes committed by them was blowing up of an armoured troop-carrier that was moving to the military unit along the motorway Maiskoye-Nazran in the Prigorodny District of North Ossetia. The criminal group also committed the murder of Mr Avsazhev, head of Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
