Nazran: rally participants break up, fate of detainees unknown

The people who have rallied to a mass meeting in Nazran (Ingushetia) dispersed at 5:00 p.m., and nothing is known about the fate of the persons detained by power agents.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that no victims have been brought to hospitals.

Meanwhile, Sergey Selivestrov, First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia, has stated there were no protest actions whatsoever, just a number of offenders were detained.

We remind you despite the aggressive moods and actions of power agents, who have detained and taken away from the venue about 100 persons, and also tried to disperse the rally by shooting, the protesters had stated earlier that they would stay where they were.

Initially, the people rallied for their meeting in the Concord Square in Nazran, but then moved to the area of the city bus station.

The power agents were strenuously trying to convince the protesters to refuse from their protest action.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has reported from the venue that two power agents had beaten a 15-year old boy with a truncheon and taken him away. The witnesses said that they kept beating him until he fainted, and even after. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent received threats and commands not to make photos of the events.
