Journalist Ilyas Shurpaev buried in the capital of Dagestan

Yesterday, on March 25, journalist of Channel One Ilyas Shurpaev, who was killed in Moscow on March 21, was buried in Makhachkala. About a thousand persons took part in the mourning ceremony.

The body of Ilyas Shurpaev was brought to Makhachkala from Moscow on March 25. About a thousand persons came to say goodbye to the well-known journalist - Dagestan journalists, relatives, friends and colleagues of the lost journalist. The delegation of Channel One, headed by Kiril Kleimyonov, Director General of the Directorate of Information Programs "Channel One", also arrived to the mourning ceremony.

"For a long time I wished to come to your city to some holiday together with Ilyas Shurpaev, but I couldn't even imagine in my most terrible dreams that I'll be standing and speaking near his tomb," Mr Kleimyonov said at the cemetery. "Profession of journalist makes a person tough and at times cynic, but it doesn't refer Ilyas Shurpaev, he was a courageous journalist."

Eduard Urazaev, Minister for National Policy, Information and Foreign Communications of Dagestan said: "Today, we see off to the last journey our beloved friend, son, father and brother. Those who have encroached on his life will incur the deserved punishment. The memoirs about Ilyas Shurpaev will be forever in our hearts."
