Abkhazia exhibits her investment projects to international economic forum

Kristina Ozgan, Minister of Economy of Abkhazia, has noted, while speaking to the participants of the International Economic Forum "Abkhazia-2008. Investments and Prospects", the needs to have investments made into agriculture, industry, wholesale trade, power engineering, construction and transports.

"In the transformation process of Abkhazian economy, we see the main trends of a new economic system to appear and grow more and more sustainable. Our economic potential is now based on the agrarian, resort-and-recreation sector and transportation units, which are the priorities in our economic development," Ms Minister said.

The Ministry of Economy has presented to the forum a number of investment projects, in particular, in agriculture and industry. A general video film on Abkhazia was shown to the participants.

Alexander Guliya, Deputy Minister of Abkhazia for Taxes and Dues, when dealing with the tax policy in the country, has noted the increase of investors' interest in Abkhazia, saying that the interest went up after the lift of economic sanctions earlier in March.

The participants of the forum, having split into sections, went on consulting and discussing the business proposals received from different economic sectors of Abkhazia. The forum will go on till June 20 and end with summing up the totals.

  • Khamzat Kadyrov confirms drone attack on Chechnya

    Secretary of the Chechen Security Council Khamzat Kadyrov has posted on a social networking service a video of the destruction of a drone. The Chechen official has also added that all the drones launched today to attack the republic had been shot down.
