Abkhazia reports murder of local resident by Georgian raiding group

Guram Kekeliya, a resident of Kutol village, was killed today in the frontier Gali District of Abkhazia. Journalists were informed about it by Laurence Kogoniya, head of the Gali ROVD (District Interior Department). As he said, the incident took place at 1:45 p.m. Moscow time; near the centre of Dikhazurga village Kekeliya was shelled from an ambush by a Georgian raiding unit.

In the place of the incident, the operative group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has established that at first the criminals opened fire on the car, and then - on Gural Kekeliya who tried to escape. "Two cartridges found near the body and the character of the wounds evidence that the attackers have finished their victim. According to available information, after the murder the raiders disappeared in the adjacent Georgian territory," Mr Kogoniya has emphasized.

We remind you that on September 4 Alexander Bortnikov, Director of the Russian FSB, stated that Russian special services were marking high activity of Georgian reconnaissance services, including their interaction with the respective US agencies. As he said, "Russian special agencies have information that their Georgian counterparts are preparing terror act." Mr Bortnikov did not exclude use "of general-purpose aircrafts with terrorist aims."
