In Azerbaijan, court defeats claim of "Abu-Bekr" community against State Committee for Work with Religious Formations

Today, the Sabail District Court of the capital of Azerbaijan has considered the claim of the "Abu-Bekr" religious community lodged against the State Committee for Work with Religious Formations with a demand to cancel the decision to close the Mosque. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it by community's advocate Dzhavanshir Suleimanov.

However, according to the advocate, the court rejected the claim with an argument that the Mosque was closed by law enforcement bodies within the plan of operative and investigatory actions. The State Committee has no powers to open and close objects or to interfere in the course of investigation.

In its turn, the Embassy of Saudi Arabia to Azerbaijan has refused even to take the letter the religious community of the "Abu-Bekr" Mosque.

Advocate Dzhavanshir Suleimanov said that in the letter the community asked only to express the opinion on the fact of closing the "Abu-Bekr" Mosque because of operative and investigatory actions.

At the same time, practically all other foreign embassies in Azerbaijan have accepted the letter of the religious community. Among them - Embassies of the USA, Israel, England and others.
