On April 23, a torchlight procession was held in Yerevan in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide of 1915-1923 in Ottoman Turkey. Since 1999, such a procession has traditionally opened mourning events in memory of the victims of the Armenian genocide. About 30,000 people took part in the torchlight procession this year. It was held under the motto ‘Wake up Lao’. Lao is an affectionate address to a teenager in the Western Armenian dialect. See photo report by the Caucasian Knot correspondent Tigran Petrosyan.
