Anatoly Pakhomov takes the post of Sochi Mayor

At the inauguration ceremony, Anatoly Pakhomov, the newly elected Mayor of Sochi has taken an oath of commitment to city dwellers.

The Mayor elect pronounced his oath with his hand on the city's charter. "I swear to respect the Constitution of Russia and the Charter of Sochi and to serve for the prosperity of the city and its residents," said Mr Pakhomov.

The Governor of the Krasnodar Territory awarded Pakhomov with the lapel badge and certificate of the Mayor of Sochi. "Today, the city has elected its Olympic Mayor. About 80 percent of voters for him is a huge credit of trust, which should be return to townspeople," the "Interfax" quotes Governor Tkachov as saying.

According to the data of the Sochi electoral commission, at the election on April 26, Anatoly Pakhomov, who earlier was acting Sochi Mayor, won 76.86 percent of votes in the first round of the election. According to the federal law, the law of the Krasnodar Territory and the charter of Sochi, the Mayor is elected for the term of 5 years.
