Investigation with regard to oppositionist Pashinian completed in Armenia
Special investigation service in Armenia has completed investigating the case of Nikol Pashinian, chief editor of the "Aikakan Zhamanak" ("Armenian Time") newspaper and opposition activist. He is charged with organizing mass disorders and violence with regard to representatives of the authorities.
Tigran Atanesian, the defendants lawyer, has explained to journalists that under " violence with regard to representatives of the authorities" the investigation agency means the incident of October 23, 2007, when, in the course of announcements about an opposition meeting, a conflict took place between opposition activists, among whom Nikol Pashinian was present, and the policemen blocking the participants of the march who were informing the townsmen about the meeting.
The lawyer says that he still has not been given the case file but he assumes that it is big and consists of scores of volumes. This why he has requested 45 days from the Special Investigation Service for studying the file.
