Volgograd Regional Prosecutor's Office forces 25 TB patients into treatment

Employees of the Prosecutor's Office of the city of Kamyshin, Volgograd Region, have revealed 25 local residents sick of tuberculosis. They had evaded examination and treatment; therefore, now they will be forced into treatment.

"According to Articles 2, 17 and 41 of the Constitution of Russia, the person, his/her rights and freedoms are supreme values; recognition, observance and protection of them are the duties of the state. Everyone has the right to have defence of his/her life and health," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the press service of the Regional Prosecutor's Office.

"Meanwhile, this sort of patients, suffering from infectious TB forms, endanger life and health of other citizens, which touches on the rights, freedom and legitimate interests of an unlimited circle of other persons, in this case - residents of Kamyshin," said Timofei Makarov, assistant of the city public prosecutor.

The decision on forced hospitalization is passed by the court in the location of the medical anti-tubercular organization, where a TB patient is under dispensary supervision.
