Tsotne Gamsakhurdia's mother plans to go on with her hunger strike till her son's liberation

Manana Archvadze-Gamsakhurdia, mother of Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, is going to continue her hunger strike until her son is released. The detainee's supporters demand an objective investigation.

"We're going to continue our hunger strike until my son is set free from his custody," the widow of the first president of Georgia, who is on hunger strike together with 60 supporters since November 14 in the building of the office of the Ombudsman of Georgia, said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Some Manana's supporters already have health had problems, and two days ago they even had to call an ambulance. According to hunger-strikers, during this time the Ombudsman has never come to visit them.

"It's a lie, I met them," Ombudsman Georgiy Tugushi refuted the protesters' words in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Mr Tugushi said that Gamsakhurdia's supporters even asked his permit to start their hunger strike on the balcony of his office. "I had a talk also with the widow of the first president about Tsotne's detention and other matters," said the Ombudsman.

Besides, according to Tugushi, members of his office visited Tsotne twice; Manana Archvadze's son was initially at the police, and then was transferred to the prison.

"Our representative visited him last week. We also talked to the prison doctor," the Ombudsman has emphasizes. "When I come to my office, I greet the protesters, if they are on the balcony, and ask about how they are."

According to Georgiy Tugushi, he asked via Zviad Gamsakhurdia's widow Tsotne's advocate to give him the materials of the criminal case. "But until now I have nothing; however, my office should analyse the materials, otherwise we'll reach no results," he said.
