Lawyer: defendants in "Neva-Express" train are ready to evidence but ask to observe the CCP

The rumours that defendants in the case of 2007 "Neva-Express" train explosion refused to evidence have nothing to do with reality: they just demand to observe the Code of Criminal Procedure (CCP), according to which the prosecution party should be listened to completely prior to defendants' evidences. This was stated by Murat Yunusov, who is defending their interests.

The information that the residents of Ingushetia Maksharip Khidriev and Salambek Dzakhkiev, accused of blowing up the "Neva-Express" train in 2007, refused evidencing on Friday, December 11, at the session of the Novgorod Regional Court was spread by a number of media - the "Gazeta.Ru", "Echo Moskvy" Radio and other outlets among them. According to the media, when asked by Judge Andrei Yanushko, who chairs the trial, whether the defendants would evidence on that day, both of them refused.

Mr Yunusov made the following comment in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent: "What they give in media about their refusal is false. There's a certain order of judicial investigation, which is established at the start of the investigation. According to the order, the defendants were told that they would evidence after presentation of the proofs by the prosecution."
