KBR: court extends custody of those accused of attacking Nalchik

Today, the Supreme Court of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has announced its ruling to extend till March 26, 2010, the custody term of all the defendants accused of attacking power agencies structures of the KBR in Nalchik in October 2005.

The ruling says that there are no grounds to change someone's custody for some other freedom restriction measure, because "the proofs have not been investigated to the end on none of the attacked objects," and "defendants (if released) can put pressure on other figurants of the process." It is noted also that the court has no "medical documents on the defendants' health condition." But at the same time, "the court keeps an eye on their health condition."

The ruling further notes that "there are no grounds to regard this trial to be illegitimate," in the context of  the transfer, by decree of Russian President, of the chairing judge Galina Gorislavskaya to the Moscow Regional Court, since the court has not received any official documents about her new appointment.

Having announced the ruling, the court informed the audience that the next session will take place on January 12, 2010, because the judge is sick.

According to some sources, Galina Gorislavskaya will stay to work in the Supreme Court of the republic till the end of consideration of this criminal case.
