Armenia: political prisoner Mikaelyan successfully operated on
On December 16, political prisoner Sasun Mikaelyan, who was transferred on the eve because of his poor health condition from the prison to the medical centre "Armenia", underwent a successful surgery. The danger that threatened his life is now some 80 percent less. Journalists were told about it by Avetik Minasyan, Mikaelyan's attending physician.
The doctor said that the operation lasted for five hours and included surgery of two frontal and two ethmoidal sinuses. Thanks to the surgery, problems were removed with the palate, which affected his breathing and created cardiac problems for Mikaelyan.
Now, after the complex surgery, Sasun Mikaelyan is under doctors' control and will stay in hospital for at least three more weeks.
