About 4000 citizens of Georgia pending deportation in Poland

In the nearest months some four thousand citizens of Georgia will be sent away from Poland. Georgian officials admit that their fellow citizens has mostly crossed the Belarusian-Polish border illegally; and then addressed Polish authorities for political asylum.

On January 29, Konstantin Kavtaradze, Georgia's ambassador to Poland, said that the overwhelming majority of applications from citizens of Georgia to the authorities of Poland for political asylum were rejected after consideration; therefore, about four thousand Georgian citizens will be deported home by air, as the "Interfax" reports.

The "Trend" Agency adds that the majority of Georgian illegal refugees, kept in Polish camps, have been detained for illegal crossing the border; however, among them there are also those who were detained for committing offences.

  • Court denies compensation to KBR convict for HIV infection

    The Oktiabrsky District Court of Novorossiysk has dismissed Yuri Mikhailov's lawsuit for compensation for the fact that after staying in jails in Novorossiysk and in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), he was infected with HIV and hepatitis. This was reported by his advocate, Svetlana Toreeva.
