66 prisoners to be early relieved in Georgia

In Georgia, 66 inmates will be at large before term and welcome Easter in their families. The respective decision was made by the commission on conditional-early relief at its sitting on April 2.

"We've considered 229 prisoner's cases - 66 of them will regain freedom ahead of term. Mind that 7 women and no minor will be among them," Georgiy Makasarashvili, chairman of the commission and deputy minister on punishment enforcement, probation and legal aid, said to journalists.

"The criteria that guided us in the course of consideration, were, first of all, the gravity of punishment, behaviour in custody, state of health and family status of the convicts," Rati Maisuradze, a member of the commission, has noted.

In total, over 300 prisoner's applications arrived to the commission; about a hundred of them were considered by the commission at its sitting on March 31.
