Bokov released after kidnapping in Ingushetia doesn't plan to appeal against his detention

Khizar Bokov, 24, a resident of Karabulak, who was taken away from his house by power agents on April 21 and released on April 25, is not going to complain of his illegal detention. He is sure, same as his relatives, that for four days he was kept in Division 6 of the GUVD (Chief Interior Department) engaged in fighting extremism.

Khizar's mother - Fatima Bokova - says that her son looked bad and depressed when he returned home. Fatima suspects that he could be tortured, but he would not speak about it. The people who kept him told him nothing about where he was.

"We don't know the story; who and why detained him. On Sunday, April 25, in the afternoon, they brought him to Karabulak and left near the GUVD. His belongings were not with him. The advocate was not let to him. Nothing was explained and no motives were moved. He was kept in a small cell without windows and doors, with one chair only. When they took him out, they put a plastic bag over his head. There was nothing in the cell, even no plank bed," Fatima Bokova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

She says that he was asked about his friends, with whom he communicated, and about his connections; they spoke Russian, and all of them were in masks.

"You'll get nothing from those who act by means of such methods; it's senseless to complain; it's just waste of time. I'm happy that my boy is alive. There is no agency, which could say that they had kept him," the woman is sure.

  • Lawyers doubt prospect of bills banning religious clothes

The bills that intend to ban wearing religious clothing, including niqabs, in public places are causing a split in the society, which is especially negative amid the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine. Religious clothes are not widespread in the country, this issue is not relevant, therefore the bills to ban them will not be adopted, lawyers believe.
