Ten oppositional protesters arrested in Azerbaijan

In the capital of Azerbaijan, 13 participants of today's protest action of the oppositional block "Azadlyg" were administratively punished late at night. Ten of them were sentenced to 7-10 days of administrative arrest, the rest three were fined.

The 7-day term was awarded to Bakharchyn Gashimov, head of the Surakhan district organization of the Liberal Party, and 4 members of managerial bodies of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) Mohammed Talybly, Ramiz Kamal, Seimur Khaziev and Aligusein Salyev.

Five more activists of the PFPA - Abulfaz Gurbanly (head of the youth branch of the PFPA), Emin Akhundov, Dayanat Babaev, Reshad Ismailov and Chingiz Mamedov - were sentenced to 5 day of arrest each, as the "Caucasian Knot" was informed by Gasan Kerimov, head of the Supreme Majlis of the PFPA.

About 20 more persons detained before the protest action and during dispersal of the rally were released from police stations after warning.
